EOS Blockchain Community is Cooperating with Google Cloud

EOS Blockchain Community is Cooperating with Google Cloud
There is also invited Goldman Sachs veteran to be the lead of Block One's advisory board.
Google Cloud is cooperating with the EOS blockchain association with the purpose to become a block producer. This would expect the permission of the EOS community. EOS, which has been criticized for unnecessary centralization, has 21 block producers altogether.

In the firm press statement, Google Cloud developer and advocate, Allen Day, is quoted verifying that his business is beginning the process of coming to a block producer:
“As organizations begin to incorporate distributed ledger technology into their infrastructures, we are committed to ensuring that the information on public blockchains are securely stored, reliably available, and can be accessed in meaningful ways.”
In a similar report, CEO of Block One, Brendan Blumer purported that EOS is liable for the majority of known blockchain action, though he didn't define the principles through which he gave that summing-up:
“With the majority of global public blockchain activity, EOS is a powerful solution for anyone looking to leverage the decentralized ecosystem with ease".
Block One stated that a previous Goldman Sachs executive called R. Martin Chavez will be managing the business advisory board.
Block One, the business behind EOS, was first co-founded by a current self-governing presidential applicant, Brock Pierce — though the ambitious politician was dismissed from the firm some years ago. During his job, Pierce has been entangled in a number of disagreements.

Employees will be part of a team dedicated to creating innovative “non-card” payment products for Visa.
📌 Binance-backed blockchain hotel reservation service Travala has announced a partnership with Expedia, a US travel agency. Thanks to this, it will be possible to pay for rooms in 700,000 hotels from the company's catalog using Bitcoin.
📌 Bitcoin industry veteran, venture investor and billionaire Brock Pierce announced his intention to compete in the upcoming US presidential election. 📌 The Central Bank of Japan announced the start of testing the digital yen. According to the statement, at the first stage of testing, the bank intends to evaluate the possibility of launching the coin from a technical point of view and will consider the reliability of such a tool and its availability to the general public. Meanwhile, China is already in full swing testing digital yuan in 4 cities in such large networks as McDonald’s and Starbucks.
📌 The United States Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has launched an investigative pilot program that seeks to find tools to track various types of cryptocurrency transactions. These include private coin analysis software and second-tier protocols such as the Lightning Network. The tools will be used by investigators, who in their work face the need to unravel the movements of privacy-oriented cryptocurrency users.

Coins, Projects, Startups

Thomas Heller, F2Pool Mining Pool Global Business Director, confirmed that sales are made only in China.
📌 The head of Tesla and SpaceX, Elon Musk, a year later denied speculation about participating in the creation of solutions on Ethereum. In the crypto community, the entrepreneur was thought to participate in projects with ETH. In April 2019, Musk tweeted with the word “Ethereum”. Subsequently, he made a reservation that it was a joke. Elon Mask still considers Bitcoin the most reliable cryptocurrency, although he owns only 0.25 BTC.

P-REP Proposal; ICON, 20% exposure in top crypto event of 2020, reach 100+ universities/corporate partners (BETTER THAN SLICED BREAD), organized by MouseBelt.

Summary:
Event site: https://www.ri2020.io/
Event date: May 18th, 2020
P-PREP Commitment Date: April 30th, 2020
Telegram: u/markusreisner
We believe we have a strong proposition to market ICON in a meaningful way to some of the largest communities in crypto.
The MouseBelt team has the largest global network of over 100+ universities in 20+ countries. Over the last few months, 10+ university blockchain events we were working with got canceled for obvious reasons.
Due to that fact, and our understanding of our reach we decided to launch a virtual conference. Since April 10th here is what happened:
MouseBelt will invest over $70k+ into this event. We would like to have fellow P-Reps invest $20k (this will go 100% to BlockTV production cost).
The benefit to the ICON community will be:
Background:
MouseBelt is a popular blockchain ecosystem consisting of multiple parts:
MouseBelt as ICON developers:
Our engineering team has implemented token assets on ZenSports (SPORTS), the first STO on the ICON network, and GrowYourBase, the #1 IRC2 application token in market capitalization on the ICON network.
Currently, we are developing the Balanced network in concert with ICX_Station, PARROT9, and Iconosphere. Balanced will bring synthetic assets backed by ICX to the ICON network, as well as tokenized staked ICX. This can assist with both a stable asset for payments, and a base for other DeFi applications
MouseBelt as a P-Rep:
We have been a Main P-Rep most of the time since decentralization of the network and so far had utilized our funds for student education.
Such as the “ICON in a box” workshops and the Milwaukee Blockchain Conference, which we sponsored in a direct ICX payment and the second annual payment for UCLA’s blockchain engineering course.
REIMAGINE2020, Conference details:
Conferences have always been an integral part of the blockchain space to promote projects in the industry.
With recent evolutions around the globe, things have changed. They either got canceled or delayed.
We have created REIMAGINE2020, a virtual conference.
Shared by the ICON Foundation on April 18.
We can effectively and efficiently promote ICON to the world through Reiamgine2020 | BlockTV. The driving force behind the conference is: highest quality of Content matched with the best production quality for Video. The funds will allow MouseBelt to promote ICON logo/branding throughout the conference/programming for straight 72 hr of live streaming. Additionally, we have the opportunity to properly place ICON logo/branding in highly favorable on-screen placements (tickers/commercials/plugs and continuous branding) reaching 5M viewers globally. ICX Station is providing a Keynote to drive global interest.
Confirmed partners
Schedule & Format
Production Status
Audience
In addition to the communities of our confirmed partners and universities we are targeting:
1. Viewers - Tuning into the livestream, attending a workshop, or watching the content post-conference.
2. Participants - Speakers, partners, and sponsors
3. As far as hard data for "attendees" we have two signals:

Crypto Month in Review - March 2018

Previous reviews: Jan, Feb Crypto moves way too fast for me to keep up, so I aggregate each day's biggest headline and publish the list at the end of the month. Below is my list for March. My main news source was reddit. My main holdings are ETH and NANO, but I try to make these lists as unbiased as possible. As requested by you guys, I have included source links to each of these headlines. I also took a screenshot of the market cap movement throughout the month that you can see here. To speak to March in particular - even though we are in a bear market right now, and the first half of the month had pretty negative headlines, hopefully the many promising headlines in the 2nd half of the list will help assure you that distributed ledger technology is only becoming more adopted and embedded in society with each passing day. 3/1 - Oyster Pearl completes a coin burn of 10% of its total supply. This comes one day after they released their testnet. 3/2 - TechCrunch founder Michael Arrington is subpoenaed by the Securites and Exchange Commision over his $100 million cryptocurrency fund. 3/3 - A class-action lawsuit is filed against Coinbase alleging insider trading prior to Bitcoin Cash trading going live on their exchange. 3/4 - An anonymous person publishes a pastebin document detailing a FUD campaign by CoinDesk backers Digital Currency Group against IOTA. 3/5 - Coinbase hires former LinkedIn exec Emilie Choi to serve as VP of corporate & business development, with an emphasis on “world-class acquisition and partnership opportunities”. 3/6 - WaltonChain subsidiary ZhongChuan IoT and Alibaba Cloud sign a strategic partnership to research Smart City solutions and blockchain application schemes. 3/7 - A rogue actor who had been phishing Binance accounts uses the victims’ funds to pump the price of Viacoin. Withdrawals on Binance were automatically frozen, and the hacker’s transactions were later rolled back. 3/8 - Sierra Leone, in conjunction with blockchain voting startup Agora, records the world’s first ever presidential election on a blockchain. (NOTE: This claim has now been rejected by the Sierra Leone government.) 3/9 - Security researchers at the University of Toronto catch the Egyptian government remotely hijacking citizens’ computers to covertly mine Monero. 3/10 - Reports reveal that Google has been quietly purging cryptocurrency ads, mainly those for ICOs, under pressure from the FBI. The FBI also convinced Facebook to do the same thing in February. 3/11 - Binance posts a $250,000 bounty for information that leads to the arrest of the perpetrators of the March 7th hack. 3/12 - John Oliver explains Bitcoin and blockchain to a global audience and pens his #CraefulGang movement while condemning projects such as EOS and Bitconnect on his CNN show Last Week Tonight. 3/13 - VeChain announces a partnership with Chinese supply chain risk management company LogSafer. 3/14 - In the wake of John Oliver’s cryptocurrency segment in which EOS spokesperson Brock Pierce’s questionable past was outlined, EOS decides to cut ties with him, scrubbing their site and YouTube channel of any reference to him. 3/15 - Bitcoin core devs release a beta version of the Lightning network to the mainnet. 3/16 - The 2018 Joint Economic Committee Report dedicates an entire section to the rise of cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology. 3/17 - Bitmain announces a new mining machine, the antminer 3x, that is primarily designed to mine Monero. It’s not perfect yet, but in the past, it has flagged NEO/Antshares in July 2017, Vechain in October 2017, and ICON in November 2017: all three went onto 10x in price in the next handful of months.
--There were no cryptos detected by the algorithm this week.--

NEW CRYPTO RADAR
Background: I developed an algorithm that detects new, non-shitcoin cryptocurrencies from analyzing Reddit submissions. It’s not perfect yet, but in the past, it has flagged NEO/Antshares in July 2017, Vechain in October 2017, and ICON in November 2017: all three went onto 10x in price in the next handful of months.
--There were no cryptos detected by the algorithm this week.--
UNTIL NEXT TIME Your feedback is insanely valuable because I’m still very much developing this report and my data! Your ideas could very well get implemented next time. What did you like and dislike?
Reach out to me with any other questions, and I’ll reply! If you prefer, you can follow along every week via email here. Thank you for reading!

Re-visiting the Tether/Binance controversy.

I've been following crypto for a number of years now, and am reading up again on the Tether controversy.
Came across this this article from Bitfinex'ed this morning, and I'm wondering about your thoughts. Specifically, what do you think about the following claim:
Brock Pierce also agrees with me, that Bitcoin needed Tether for some reason… to break $2K (which also agrees with my original guess that the price of Bitcoin would stall around $1,947.) I didn’t expect them to get away with printing billions of Tethers to inflate the markets for so long.
Honestly, been trying to buy back in here and there, but the fact that the market crashed in January, Bitconnect went down, but Tether is still around alarms me. I'm trying to think of the most plausible best-case scenarios for Tether, and all I see is a crash tumbling BTC well below $5k and everything along with it.
There's been talk (unsubstantiated, but there's been talk) about Binance, and market manipulation apart from Tether. Just 2 days ago, another article said:
Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao, who was speaking at a CoinDesk conference in Singapore, declined to comment on the New York regulator’s report. However, he seemed unperturbed by the news. He told conference attendees that the exchange, after making $350 million in profit in the first half of the year, is seeking to add trading for five to 10 fiat currencies within the next 12 months—but probably not in North America. He was mobbed by fans as he left the stage, spurring conference organizers to consider calling security.
Kraken CEO Jesse Powell previously said that market manipulation “doesn’t matter” to crypto traders, and that the notion of manipulation is really a “euphemism for mind control.” The New York Attorney General’s report said these responses were “alarming.” Kraken couldn’t immediately be reached for comment.
Honestly, I don't give a shit about most of these coins, I'm only after day-trading ETH and holding XMR for the long term, but I find it kinda alarming to hear this stuff, and put off from buying in (even at these discounts!) when so many expected Tether's collapse in 2018.
I used Gemini a while back, and respected their work. But now they're trading the Gemini Dollar on HitBTC of all places, which annoys me too.
Thoughts?
